Could someone please explain why black people watch and listen to the things they do?

Why is it that black american teens listen and watch things about drugs, violence, girls and money? These things happen everyday! When your entire life is a bad soap opera, why do you want to see it on TV? Only mature answers, please. And keep in mind that I am black, and thus not racist.

Hell white kids here in all white Johnson City Tennessee act like Blacks. Dress like them,act, and drive boom boom cars.
its cultural, nurture vs nature. If you are raised on rap cause your older bro does you will to. My Fiance is half black but raised by her mexican mom, she acts like a "normal" person, her black friends tell her she acts "white" this offends her. She likes hip hop and rap but also loves alternative music and mexican music. She jus tells them she does not act white, she just doesnt act ghetto either.
The same reason "white" people, or Asian, or Hispanic people watch this stuff...it is escapism. I don't know where you are from but where I am from black people's lives are no more a soap opera than anyone elses.
i watch things of violence i listen to rap sometimes that doesn't mean i run out there and do it and i don't think my life is a bad soap opera i know your black and all but it seems like you believe in sterotypes it's not just blacks it's everybody all teenagers i see alot of hispanic teens more influenced by the negative media

We don't copy them that's the type of life I grew up around
Because that's what some black folks know and that's what they're comfortable with. I'm black and I don't care for any of that stuff.
