I understand that it requires a skill to write lyrics and time them out rhythmyically, but what skill is required beyond mastery of the english language and then the ability to destroy it?
I seriously had someone argue with me that rap is harder than metal music to create. They said this is true because "all metal sounds the same"
I'll give him that metal songs can sound alike but there's a technical ability required that rap can't touch. Playing thousands of notes on guitar and mathematical drum sequences are much harder than rapping to a computer beat, in my opinion.
I don't care for opera or orchestra, but I respect it as a musical form. I'm trying to get an objective opinion although I'm showing a bias.
Someone, please inform me. How is rap more difficult than mastering an instrument and writing meshing instrumentals and vocals?
Where is rap's technical difficulty? How is rap more difficult to write than music with instruments?performing show

Where is rap's technical difficulty? How is rap more difficult to write than music with instruments?opera score opera theater
rap is not difficult at all.hell i would but its not my thing im in singing anyways just like an instrument takes practice to learn so does rap look at what happened to soulja boy stupidest rapper ever no lyrics only dance.rapping is easier than singing(vocals) trust me with rap you have only one voice in singing you have to change the tempo of your voice my advice to you if you are going to go into rapping is seriously think about it. music is not for everyone and for those that is they were born to make it.
hope this helps
Good Luck!
I'm not sure if you're comparing solo rap to a full band (vocalist included) or rap with backup singers and music to a full band (again, vocalist included). If solo rap, that's not exactly a fair comparison - one person as compared to a group. In this instance, the group will win out always because there are more people, which is more to coordinate. If group to group - that's up to complete opinion!
All genres of music are hard in their own respects. Meshing multilpe lines (instrumental/vocal/whatever) is hard. However, it can be written simply (by choice or if the composer knows the performer is good at improv) and left to the performer to take it up a level. In that last instance, the skill is on the performer - rapper, drummer, singer, guitarist, what have you.
