There are lots of other operas that have a similar sound to them. You might like to look up some of these favorites:

Giacchino Rossini: The Barber of Seville

Gaetano Donizetti: Lucia di Lammermoor ( where your excerpt comes from)

Vincenzo Bellini: Norma.

The style that these men wrote in is what we now term "bel canto" or beautiful singing. They all wrote many operas in this style, and they are all out there waiting for you to hear them!

A great singer, now retired, but luckily captured on hundreds of recordings, is Dame Joan Sutherland. She sang this kind of music for most of her career. Most of them are easily found through your on-line music store, and I'll bet some opera fan has posted most of them on Youtube by now.

okay, that lady is not weird, she is full out creepy!
The opera is Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor." The song is "Il Dolce Suono."
look at songs from cirque du soleil (i think quindam would be a good bet). it's world not opera but it sounds like it most of the time.
